We have been very busy in room 128!
Math- Our current unit focuses on traditional (or standard) algorithm multiplication. Up until now, students have learned how to multiply using an area model. We will work on mastering the new algorithm with factors up to 3x3.
Writing- We use a gradual release of responsibility model in writing. For our first informative piece, I modeled the process from beginning to end. In the next step, students will co-write a response to a different text with a partner. The final step will be a fully independently written informative response.
Reading- Book groups are running smoothly and students are enjoying their new books and the rich discussions that we are able have with each other.
Science- We are still in the midst of our "Earth and Sun" unit. Our focus now is Air and Earth's Atmosphere. Students are enjoying the hands on investigations that we are using to make observations about these concepts. The rocket launch is coming up on November 13th. Instructions went home with students last week and can also be found on this site under science.
